News From Longmont

We got over a foot of snow dumped on us last night/this morning, and while our trees are basically OK, our neighbors have a number of trees that have broken because of it. One fell on our mail box, another in the swing set area,

one fell over our fence, and another on our driveway (my husband had the foresight to move the cars).

Nothing on our house, thank goodness. Seth was out during the night and for hours this morning knocking snow off of the trees in the neighborhood. Probably saved a good few. Lots of trees in town have broken due to the heavy snow, and some of the schools in the district were closed due to power outages.

So, here at home, we had a snow day. The kids played indoors with some new lincoln logs,

played in the snow outside, had hot chocolate,

built a snowman, and had a day off of school.

I got to shovel the driveway and walk and talk to our neighbor while Seth helped knock trees. It totally felt like a laid back holiday. The kids said it felt like Christmas because of the snow. It's actually been a nice day.

Woah, that is a ton of snow! I, for one, am not quite ready for the cold but alas, I know it will be here soon.

Cheers! ~Brianne~
